If you’ve got downstream wires, they go into the LOAD terminals using the same hot/neutral/ground pattern. Peel off the protective tape first.

Step 5: Mount the Outlet and Restore Power

Fold the wires back into the box neatly so nothing gets pinched. Push the outlet back in and secure it with the two mounting screws. Don’t crank down on them. You’ll crack the plastic.

Screw the cover plate back on. Head to your breaker panel and flip that circuit breaker back to ON.

Come back to your outlet. Press RESET firmly until you hear or feel the click. Use your voltage tester or plug in a lamp to confirm power’s there. Then press TEST. Power should cut off immediately. Press RESET. Power comes back. Done.
